CMA CGM Optimizes Two Transatlantic Services
Rotation enhancements include additional ports, stronger market coverage
CMA CGM, the world’s third largest container shipping company, has announced the reorganization of its transatlantic Liberty Bridge and St. Laurent services, effective respectively Dec. 1, 2009 and Dec. 26th, 2009. “We continuously evaluate our services to ensure that we are meeting the import and export needs of our customers,” said Jean Philippe Thenoz, vice president of North American lines, CMA CGM Group. "The reorganization of these two key services strengthens our transatlantic market coverage and enhances the quality and the reliability of our services for our customers.” On Dec.1, several enhancements will be made to the Liberty Bridge service loop that runs from North Europe to the U.S. East Coast. Of the most significant adjustments, the service will now be operated by two complementary loops. Additional updates to the service include calling Norfolk in Loop One, adding Jacksonville as a direct call and establishing New York as the final port of call before departing to Europe. The two Liberty Bridge loops will operate as follows: Liberty Bridge One (Loop NWA):
Westbound: Bremerhaven -Rotterdam - Felixstowe - Le Havre - New York - Norfolk - Charleston Eastbound: Miami –Jacksonville – Savannah – Charleston - New York - Bremerhaven Liberty Bridge Two (Loop Maersk):
Westbound only: Rotterdam - Bremerhaven - Felixstowe - New York - Charleston - Savannah - Miami On Dec. 26th, CMA CGM will implement adjustments to the St. Laurent line, which is operated in cooperation with Maersk. This North Europe to Canada rotation will be from Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre, Montreal and back to Bremerhaven, thus offering a complete and larger coverage of NWC origins.
