ICTSI Latin American unit first to be ISO certified
Contecon Guayaquil S.A. (CGSA), manager and operator of Guayaquil Multipurpose and Container Terminal (GMCT) recently became the first Latin American container port to be ISO certified after the company received four ISO certifications: ISO 9001 (Quality Management System); ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System); OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety); ISO 28000 (Supply Chain Security Management Systems). CGSA was certified by Bureau Veritas of Ecuador. The four certifications were acquired after a series of audits of all CGSA departments. CGSA recently held a ceremony at its Tourist Terminal to celebrate this achievement. Local government authorities, Guayaquil Port Authority directors, customers, media, and other invited guests were present to celebrate with CGSA. Humberto Palacios, Autoridad Portuaria de Guayaquil President; Luis Cao, CGSA Chief Executive Officer; and Adrián Agazzi, CGSA Director of Services and Technology, explained the certification processes in their speeches at the ceremony. They emphasized CGSA’s compliance to the lease agreement, and highlighted the importance of this certification to the Port of Guayaquil.
